I created Katindom as a place for creators to find practical ideas, learn new skills, and figure out what works for them. Think of this blog as the conversation that happens alongside the guides and resources: a little more personal, a little more in the moment.

Every week, I’ll share what I’m noticing in content creation, break down interesting examples, and talk through ideas I’m trying in my own work. Sometimes it’ll be a useful tip. Sometimes it’ll be a case that made me think. And sometimes it’ll simply be my honest opinion.

I want to start with something that’s been on my mind since I was recently invited to a brand event.

There’s an expectation in the influencer world that everything should come for free. I’ve never really liked that way of thinking. I believe that if you want to receive something from a brand—or from anyone in life—you should be willing to invest something, too. That might be your time, your creativity, your effort, or yes, your own money.

If there’s a product you genuinely love, don’t be afraid to buy it and make content about it. Show how you use it. Come up with an idea that feels like you. Make something so thoughtful and creative that the brand can see what you bring to the table.

You don’t need to wait for a free package to begin creating. The content you make with the things you already love can become the reason a brand notices you.

That’s one of the ideas I hope you’ll take from this library: start with what you have, make it your own, and keep going.
